Born and raised on the Yankton Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, Indigenous front man Mato Nanji formed the band with his brother, sister, and cousin. Their sound is heavily influenced by the music his father and uncles were making and by legendary blues artists Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and B.B. King. Mato continues to refine his guitar and vocal vocabularies with each new release.
Indigenous kicks off our sixth series of Levitt AMP Stevens Point. The Levitt AMP Stevens Point Music Series is a CREATE Experience supported in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private foundation that empowers towns and cities across America to transform underused public spaces into thriving destinations through the power of free, live music. Learn more at concerts.levittamp.org.
Levitt is also supported by local sponsors Worzalla, Worth Company, Prevail Bank, the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, Ki Mobility, the City of Stevens Point, Festival Foods, Cobblestone Hotel Stevens Point, Simplicity Credit Union, and NRG Media with concert sponsor Gamber Johnson.
