"The Co-op Wars tells the story of the idealistic youth who tried to build an alternative to corporate capitalism, the violent struggle that almost tore them apart, and their eventual success in ways they never foresaw."
Welcome Deacon Warner, director of the one-hour documentary "The Co-op Wars," and get the inside scoop on the dramatic events that gripped the 1970's food co-op movement in the Twin Cities! Warner has produced over twenty short documentaries including the award winning 56 and Peaceful Warriors: on the road with Vets for Peace. His most recent film, Bee-Sharp Honeybee, premiered at the 2018 Minneapolis St Paul International Film Festival and played at numerous other festivals internationally!
This indoor screening will be hosted in the upstairs of the Stevens Point Area Co-op (SPAC), Stevens Point's very own local food co-op. Get your screening snacks and a short welcome from them before the show begins! There is no lift to the upstairs, so attendees must be prepared to climb the steps. Space is limited to the first 75 attendees.
The SPAC and Deacon will be introduced right at 8pm, with The Co-op Wars starting promptly after. Parking is available behind the Pisarski Funeral Home and in the neighborhood behind the SPAC. Alcohol may not be brought in or opened in the SPAC.
